Forensic Evaluations

Wind, water and aging all wreak havoc on building exteriors. Add in improper detailing and poor workmanship and the result often is problems with exterior walls, glazing, waterproofing and roofs. Glazing Consultants International, LLC's forensic services can be the problem solver. We take a multifaceted approach determining what the source of the problem is and how to fix it.

GCI uses a systematic process by following the procedures outlined in documents such as ASTM E 2128 Standard Guide for Evaluating Water Leakage of Building Walls.  Recognizing that every project is different, a custom forensic evaluation plan is developed for each investigation.  GCI’s evaluation may include:

  • Review of project documents;
  • Evaluation of the design concept of each system;
  • Determination of the service history of the building;
  • Inspection (non invasive or destructive, as required);
  • Investigative testing;
  • Analysis of findings, and
  • Written report of findings and recommendations.

The findings of a Forensic Evaluation can be used to develop a repair concept.  The repair can then be installed and tested in an on-site mock up to verify the effectiveness.  Once the repair has been proven effective, GCI can provide quality assurance testing and inspections to confirm successful repairs throughout the project.
